Here's a story from some guests who visited us from Holland!
In March 2007 we (4 Dutch friends) decided to go on a vacation in the US. After looking on the Internet we found the website of Vintage Surfari Wagons. We fell totally in love with the VW vans and decided to book a tour.

Saturday the 14th of July, 2007 we arrived at LAX. We were picked up by Bill who showed us the fantastic VW van. We were totally impressed by the good condition of the van and how it looked. It was amazing! It was our first time to the States so we experienced a total different driving experience! The streets and highways are incredibly large in contrast with the streets in Europe.

We start traveling south. The first week was basically a trip from beach to beach. Great beaches, nice waves (perfect conditions for rookies) and the weather was great during the whole period we were in CA!

We visited San Diego with its Sea World (great!). Our journey continued and we headed back north. We visited a small wine country, some Indian reservations and arrived in LA. Of course we visited the hot spots like Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Hollywood, Malibu, etc.

Because we wanted to visit the Grand Canyon, we parked our van temporarily at Bill’s and rented another car. We drove west and had a pit stop in Vegas! (Surreal, but a must-see.) The Grand Canyon was totally stunning. We had seen some movies about it, but in real life it was more impressive than we could imagine!

We drove back to LA, changed cars and drove our way up the coast with our final north destination being San Francisco. We took Route 101, which was an amazing experience, especially when you love nature and photography you can’t do a trip in CA without driving the 101. The sea of colours is unforgettable, in particular the sunrises and sunsets.

We arrived in SF, and visited for example the Golden Gate bridge, Pier #54, China Town, and Bloomingdales.

During our final days we visited Yosemite Park. Again, an amazing example of natural and scenic beauty. The last 2 days we spent on the beach for we heard the weather in Holland was not so well, so we took advantage of our last opportunity to enjoy the weather!

For pictures tell a lot more about things than words, we have added some of them.

Bill and Diane,

What an adventure we had with Eddie! Thanks Eddie, you’re the best!

Thanks Bill & Diane for making this a vacation the best one (till now). Thanks Bill for all the cooperation and thinking along with us. Thanks for letting us using the boards. We really appreciate all the help!

Thank God for guarding us during the trip and bringing us safely home! Praise, for He is Good!

Cheers,

Your friends from Holland:
